There are several methods available to treat Kidney stones. It solely depends upon the size & complexity
of the stone crystal inside the kidney. Your doctor will help you find the best possible treatment depending
upon the severity. Following are some of the popular methods of Kidney stones treatment
1. Shock wave Lithotripsy (SWL): To some patients, this is not less than a nightmare to go through this

instrument the stones are broken into smaller pieces to be passed through urine. The pain and cost both
are higher simultaneously. In India, it will cost you around Rs. 50,000 to 72,000.
2. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL): This treatment involves a Nephroscope - a thin telescopic
instrument that shows the size and structure of stone(s). The procedure is carried out under general
anesthetic conditions as the stone is pulled out through laser or pneumatic energy. The cost of the
treatment in India lies between Rs. 60,000 to 80,000.
3. Ureteroscopy: Ureteroscopy involves the use of a ureteroscope - a thin long tube that passes through the ureter
allowing broken stone pieces to flow through urine. It is one of the most costly treatments available to treat kidney
